Grocery Stores

Grocery Stores suck. All of them. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but for the purpose of this blog, they all suck. I have several issues with grocery stores, two of which annoy me the most.
The first has become a big problem at Giant Eagle. They no longer have people running checkout. They installed these damn self checkout machines and they don't have anyone actually checking people out. Then you have to scan all your own damn groceries and bag all your own damn groceries and it takes forever. Heaven forbid you buy alcohol, someone has to come over and enter a damn code. Or, OH NO!, the bagging area doesn't sense that your item was placed on the belt. It's on the damn belt. Just let me proceed. Gotta get someone to come over and enter the code again. They spend so much time coming over to enter codes, they could just check me out fulltime. Plus I consider it a basic convenience that the grocery store owes me to bag my groceries. Bagging groceries sucks. It at least provides someone with a job that didn't previously have one. Want to fix unemployment? I'm sure a shitload of baggers used to have jobs that don't know since the invention of these god-awful self checkout machines. So you check out, then while you are bagging your own groceries, someone else starts checking out, there shit comes down the damn belt towards your shit and then all your damn groceries are mixed together and they are just going about their own damn business not caring that this is annoying as hell. And it is annoying as hell. But they don't care, most people really don't even pay a damn bit of attention to the fact that they are screwing up your shit.
The second issue is these damn "bonus" cards that seem to be the rage. Giant Eagle at least gives "fuel perks" for their bonus cards. But tell me what my MVP Card at Food Lion or VIP card at wherever the hell grocery store gets me. I know it gives me discounts - just give me the damn discounts as regular price without signing up for a damn card. If I say I don't have the card, you just swipe a new one which I then throw away, not signing up anyway. This is stupid. Quit bothering me with it. Make everything the same damn price and don't screw with me. Half the time the person behind me in line scans their card, so what is the damn point. Just to gather all our damn information and phone #'s. That's it. To send us coupons and shit. I don't want any of your damn coupons.

Cleanup on Aisle Tree

As part of the new theme of this blog, I have removed many older posts that did not coincide with where we will be taking our journey from this point forward.

So enjoy the new posts, and some of the old ones that I have left around for you to read.

I'm Back Bitches

There is plenty to rant about. So I'll be back ranting.

Greatest Sports Movies!

These aren't the greatest sports movies of all time, because I haven't personally seen all of them. I have seen most of them, but definitely not all. I will separate them by sport, because each sport presents its own degree of difficulty.

Baseball - Bad News Bears (the original with Walter Matthau)
Honorable Mentions - The Natural, The Rookie, The Sandlot

Football - Rudy
Honorable Mentions - All the Right Moves, Friday Night Lights, Varsity Blues

Hockey - Slapshot
Honorable Mention - Miracle, The Mighty Ducks

Basketball - Hoosiers
No other movie even comes close.

Hot Air Balloons

I saw a hot air balloon while I was driving around yesterday and I wondered, what is the appeal of these things? They are slow-moving, noisy, floating baskets, which have absolutely no value at all. There are many better options out there if you want to fly through the air, the faster the better. Stupid hot air balloons. They float slowly through the sky, providing no value whatsoever. The only value I can even see is if you are sightseeing, but there are many better options. So, here is my list of things to do or have fly you around if you seek above-ground thrills other than hot air balloons:
  • Jet Pack
  • Helicopter
  • Plane
  • Hang-glider
  • Blimp
  • Flying Saucer (you'll have to entice an alien to abduct you first, or you can just call up the US military and they can hook you up, they've been storing one at Area 51 for the last couple of decades)
  • Sky-diving
  • Bungee Jumping
  • Rollercoasters (not actually flying, but a lot of fun)
  • Base Jumping
